Cedar shafts of the highest quality – Port Orford Cedar has long been the preferred choice of many traditional top archers. There is no other wooden shaft that matches the qualities of Port Orford Cedar: it is strong, elastic, and has a perfect weight-to-spine ratio.
Natural Product
Since wood is a natural product, wooden shafts will vary slightly from one another –
not in diameter (as this is precisely manufactured),
but in external and internal characteristics.
For example, not every shaft is perfectly straight, equally stiff, or exactly the same weight.
The spine value also varies, which is why wooden shafts are generally classified and sorted into categories with a tolerance of 5 lbs.
To ensure the greatest possible consistency, all shafts are hand-spined, checked for cracks, and straightened by hand.
Cedar Shafts to Size
We supply shafts in full length (32 inches). For many archers, this length is too long, and the shaft will need to be shortened.
For a small additional fee, we can cut your shafts to the desired length.
We use a special cutting machine that allows millimetre-accurate trimming — guaranteeing shafts that are perfectly equal in length and straightly cut.
For even better shooting results, we can, for a small fee, sort the shafts by weight within a tolerance of 1 gram or 0.5 gram. We do this in groups of up to 12 shafts. If you order more, we will divide them into groups with weights as close together as possible.
